Ecommerce related SmartPhone apps have been rising in popularity because it allows an online store owner to monitor and control many aspects of their site with ease from their cell phone. Most people think of Ecommerce apps only as a better way to shop at their favorite online stores, but the apps being developed for merchants are even more impressive because of all of the power they give online store owners. Online shopping cart and Ecommerce solution provider Shopify was mentioned recently because of the popularity of one of the iPhone apps created by independent developer Robot Mode LLC for the Shopify App Store. For only $4.99 it gives Shopify merchants the ability to manage multiple stores, inventory levels, shipping information, and order details.

The Wall Street Journal interviewed Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke about the app for a SmartPhone article published today. “The app allows small companies to operate more like larger e-commerce shops, which have dedicated staff to improve their work flow,” Lutke states. “With this technology, you can be very small and have the same technology as a big corporation,” he concludes.

The Shopify API platform and App Store only debuted in June of this year so stay on the lookout for more apps to help you with your online store before the holiday shopping season. Not all Ecommerce solution providers have mobile apps to help you out, but as demand increases it is only a matter of time before they become a standard that online store owners demand.
