By improving the user experience of your online storefront, you increase your chances of improving sales as well. Here are 3 simple tips to improve your customer experience and hopefully boost sales in the process.

Limit Distractions in the Shopping Cart Process – After launching an ecommerce store and spending time and effort to drive visitors to your site, the last thing you want to do is distract them when going through the shopping cart checkout process. Some shopping carts have too many things going on at once in the middle of the checkout like advertisements, customer service info, shipping info, or address confirmation. Instead, it is recommend to have checkout pages focus on one step at a time with minimal distractions so that customers flow through and complete the purchase.

Keep Cross-Sell Products Highly Visible in the Checkout Process – Cross-Selling is a critical component to the success of many ecommerce stores. If executed correctly, it is an easy way to increase revenue per visitor to your online store. When cross-sell products are placed too low on a web page below the checkout button, they are not visible and thus do not convert as well. Therefore it is vital to place them above the checkout button so that a customer can see them clearly and have the chance to consider if they need that product as well. The only caveat is that the cross-sell products are relevant or customers will not enjoy the shopping cart check out process. Amazon does an amazing job up selling customers during the checkout process and when users come back to visit the site. Many of these features are available when you use Webstore by Amazon

Give Customers as Many Ways as Possible to Find the Products by Model and Part Numbers – When a potential customer comes to your online store and wants to find a product, they usually know one or two things about what they want, but not everything. Some know a name, some a part number, and some a model number. You want to make sure you have a visible way for them to search the site generically or specifically by model or part number. This will help ensure you convert more visitors into paying customers.
