California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is trying another creative tactic to help the state balance the budget. Last week the state started to sell unneeded or unclaimed items online at eBay and Craigslist. Some of the items on sale included coat racks, pearl rings, computers, and cars. Schwarzenegger autographed the visors on some of the unclaimed cars in hopes to increase the amount of money he could obtain for California. These tactic are surprising to many since Schwarzenegger already has such a low approval rating in the state. This is the second time during his administration that the state has sold items on eBay with the last occurrence being in 2004.

He didn’t actually come up with the autograph idea himself, it happened to be a suggestion from one of his followers on Twitter. With over 976,000 Twitter followers and his celebrity status, the Governor has a massive built-in audience to help promote this sale. All of this fame, however may not be enough to make much of a difference on how much the items will sell for, but it may be a chance for a collector to buy an autographed item that could be worth a lot in the future.

If you happen to be near Sacramento this weekend and want to get a chance to shop in person, you can attend the Great California Garage Sale. The car preview is today at 1700 National Drive from 8am to 4pm and the sale is tomorrow the 28th from 8am to 6pm and Saturday the 29th 7am to 12pm.
