iPhone apps are giving m-commerce a forum for success as more and more businesses launch a paid app. CNN is the latest company in the news category to try and bring a paid iPhone app to consumers. News junkies might actually pay for this app as it is by far one of the coolest in the iPhone app marketplace. The video-on-demand section and ability to watch live newscasts make it a very robust app to keep you up to speed on all the breaking news and stories you may have missed. It is already the top paid news app after debuting this week and it is receiving positive reviews from consumers. All of the major news companies have a free iPhone app but CNN and consumers seem to think this paid app is superior because it offers what they have plus so much more.
The live video streaming newscasts and video-on-demand are what make this app worth the $1.99 price. iPhone users will get push notifications that will display an on-screen message, alerting users when live newscasts are available through the CNN app, all of which are available over Wi-Fi, 3G, or EDGE. There will, however, be ads that will display while the video loads which is one major negative since users already had to pay for the iPhone app. Having video-on-demand is also great as you can catch up on all the major news of the day whenever it is convenient for you. Overall CNN’s iPhone app does a great job and news junkies with an iPhone and iPod Touch will want to check it out.
