Amazon.com continues efforts to gain market share in the mobile commerce space by launching a 1-Click payment technology. Now users of smart phones have another option for payment when they need to shop on their phone. Mobile application developers and merchants are very excited as this opens up more payment options making shoppers more likely to complete their transaction. The Amazon brand is reputable and people trust their credit card information with them even if it is being transmitted via a mobile phone. Ecommerce stores with a mobile friendly shopping experience should definitely consider checking it out as it is so simple to add. No special back-end work should need to be performed to enable the Amazon 1-Click payment technology. More payment options are always welcomed by consumers as not every shopper is created equal and some like to use one form of payment as opposed to another.
Apple has already been doing an amazing job of getting consumers accustomed to making purchases via their mobile phone as millions of paid apps have been downloaded from their app store. Amazon hopes to carve out a niche in the space early, but of course will have strong competition from eBay’s Paypal as well as Google Checkout. Despite competition, Amazon seems confident it will be able to increase market share in the mobile commerce space with their 1-Click payment product. Industry analysts will be closely watching the space to try and determine how the market will evolve and who will come out victorious in the long run.
