Amazon, in an effort to make their shopping cart checkout process even smoother, announced the launch of a new technology named PayPhrase. It focuses on making online purchases even easier by allowing shoppers to enter a unique phrase as well as a 4-digit PIN number to finalize their transaction. This phrase and PIN number are then saved and, going forward, are linked to the specified shipping address and preferred payment method. After an Amazon shopper sets things up, then PayPhrase takes care of them moving forward as there is no longer a requirement to sign in or fill out credit card information when wanting to make a purchase from their shopping cart.
Some Amazon shoppers might wonder how this differs from the already impressive 1-Click payment system which has become increasingly popular. PayPhrase is not intended to over take the 1-Click payment technology, but more so to complement it and give Amazon shoppers an alternative that is more flexible for checking out of their shopping cart. One of the best features that sets the new checkout technology apart from 1-Click, is that shoppers can create multiple PayPhrases and PIN numbers that can each be associated with different addresses and unique payment methods. This allow you to have multiple cards from your family as well as work and school address to send your purchases. Many foresee this helping mobile commerce adoption as it becomes easier and more secure to just put in your PayPhrase and pin which is already associated with a trusted address. Over the next few weeks we will start to see more and more feedback from Amazon shoppers on how receptive they will be to using the new PayPhrase technology as their new standard when making their online purchases.
