Photos, Photos, and More Photos — Text is great for SEO and to give consumers a small bit of information to help them know what they are purchasing. Pictures, however, are what really draw consumers in and get them excited about making the purchase from your ecommerce shopping cart. People tend to gloss over text descriptions of products if they are too lengthy so do not waste your time writing 500 words about every item in your ecommerce store. Keep the text short and simple so you can focus more on providing as many different photos of the product as possible. Consumers want to see different angles and also have the option to zoom in to see, up close, the quality of the product they will get from your store. To maintain great optimization for your storefront, consider adding lengthy text in product description fields that don’t clutter the page.
Design With the Consumer in Mind — Just because you think something is cool or user friendly does not mean that the general population will have an easy time navigating around your ecommerce storefront to find what they desire. You want someone to feel confident about coming to your site and quickly finding exactly what they wanted. It does not help anyone to make it complicated to get to a product that is buried deep within your store. When customers do find the product they want, make sure you have smart related upsells to present them so you maximize revenue from that visitor.
