Amazon has been having an amazing Q4 with their stock on the rise and their Kindle ereader having a record breaking month for sales in December and the month is not even over yet. The company was very prepared to accommodate the demand for the Kindle, while their main competition is having trouble meeting orders. Another factor helping Amazon is that they got a jump on the ereader niche with the Kindle before any of the other ereaders had a chance to become well known. Now in an effort to close out the month strong with Kindle sales, Amazon has decided to give free two-day shipping to those who order by December 22.

amazon kindle dealAmazon announced this new holiday deal in a consumer email drop early this morning with the image on the left. This new push comes just one day after Amazon’s seasonal free shipping promotions ended. Their hope is to sway consumers who are leaning towards getting a Kindle before Christmas into acting now as the free two-day shipping will guarantee that customers get their ereader by Christmas Eve.

This is actually the first year, since the debut of the Kindle in 2007, that Amazon has been able to meet the demand for their ever popular Kindle ereader. Therefore it is tough to compare prior Kindle sales in December since Amazon lacked the inventory to fulfill all of the orders in time. Last year the Kindle was completely sold out before the holiday, so many are excited to get their hands on the newest models for this holiday shopping season. In addition to the Kindle sales, it has also resulted in thousands of ebook titles being sold to accompany the new ereaders that many are picking up for the holidays. Some consumers want to see the color display or touch screens that other competitors like Sony and Barnes & Noble offer, but as of now there are no official reports that Amazon plans to overhaul the Kindle. Despite their not being any news of this, Amazon has continued to improve upon the original model and it is very likely that we will see new Kindle models introduced sometime in 2010. Many analysts in this industry predict next year to be the year of the ereader as the competition is set to pick up and give Amazon a run for the money during the 2010 holiday season.
