After Christmas sales are expected to be plentiful this year as many of the top online retailers plan to close out the year on a high note by selling as much as possible in December 2009. Just as many online retailers announced their Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals early, they are also unveiling their after Christmas deals before the holiday is even upon us. Wal-Mart who has been in a heated battle with Amazon.com all month is planning to offer many toys and electronics at even lower prices than previously offered on sales earlier in the holiday season. They even issued a formal press release this week where they touted the prices of some of their very affordable netbooks. Amazon has yet to announce anything major regarding after holiday sales as they are still focused today on Kindle sales. Today is the last day to buy a Kindle from Amazon and get free shipping so you can receive the item before Christmas. After today many are suspecting Amazon will announce some sort of sale to help them compete against Wal-Mart.

Other retailers, like Best Buy, also plan to offer consumers various deals online which will begin on Christmas Day. Best Buy was also advertising their computer deals and trying to push netbooks at great prices, some of which are under $200. Some of these online sales tactics by retailers are intended to have consumers spend the gift cards they received for Christmas. Closing out Q4 with as many sales as possible is on the mind of all online retailers as they look to become profitable for the year. After the new year, Valentines Day is the only upcoming time that some online retailers see a spike in online sales. This is yet another reason why we will see so many items go on sale in the next few days as online retailers look to clear out their 2009 stock and prepare for the new year.
