Acquiring thousands of followers a day on Twitter has been a goal of many celebrities for sometime, with many surpassing the one million mark. Ashton Kutcher was the first to hit one million and is still in the lead amongst celebrities on Twitter with 4.4 million followers. Tracking behind are Brittney Spears in second with 4.3 million, Ellen DeGeneres third with 4.1 million, President Barack Obama forth with 3.2 million, and Oprah rounding out fifth with almost 3.1 million followers. Some users on Twitter are lucky enough to be on the suggested users lists, but those who are not may have trouble easily gaining mass amounts of followers. Now, on Ebay, more and more people are beginning to generate ecommerce sales for blocks of Twitter followers, which you can buy for a penny or less per follower. For a new ecommerce business getting on Twitter, this may sound like a smart investment because you can buy 5,000 followers for only $20 on Ebay. However, it is still unclear as to the quality of the Twitter follower you will get for your money.
Many speculate that there are people in parts of Asia who just create accounts all day that follow each other, and then follow anyone who pays for a block of followers. Most of these quick methods to get mass amounts of Twitter followers have not been proven to gain many followers of any substance. If you have a niche ecommerce business or a certain demographic, then you should work to socialize on Twitter with those people for which you will see more benefit. Sending tweets to 5,000 fake Twitter followers is not that useful, instead you should spend some time and get targeted followers who will truly be interested in what you have to tweet about. You want to make sure you have followers on Twitter who engage you in conversation and retweet your tweets so they are seen by a larger group of people. It will be interesting to see if Ebay lets these people continue to try and sell Twitter followers on their site.
