Earlier this month at E3, Microsoft debuted Kinect Sensor, which is a motion control system for the XBOX 360 gaming system. This device is Microsoft’s answer to Nintendo’s Wii gaming system which has been on the market for a few years, and the newer PlayStation Move releasing in time for the holiday shopping season. Kinect has been in development for some time, and looks to be a very interactive experience that only needs the motion control system. This means that you only use your hands and voice commands, and do not have to use motion sensor controllers like the Nintendo Wii or PlayStation Move. XBOX 360 fans who want to make sure they get their hands on the Kinect need to pre-order from the Microsoft online store. At the E3 show they did not announce the official price, but now their online store reflects a pre-order price of $149.99. Although their is a disclaimer that this pricing is an estimate and subject to change, but it is highly unlikely that the price would increase.
On November 4 the products will release to the public, and pre-ordering from the Microsoft online store now will ensure that you get the lowest price possible. If the price increases you do not pay more than $149.99, but if it decreases you will be charged that lower price. Sites like Amazon.com, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart are also listing the Kinect at the same price. The hype around this device should get XBOX 360 fans to boost pre-order sales for Microsoft, while they wait for 4 more months to receive the product.
