Verizon has been in a heated battle with AT&T since they began exclusively selling the iPhone in early 2007, but the debut of the Droid X tomorrow might be a major game changer for Verizon. Fans of the iPhone were extremely excited last month to get their hands on the newest iPhone 4 model, however the excitement turned into frustration for many as they encountered a reception issue when holding the phone normally. This issue has been jokingly called the iPhone 4 death grip, as the normal positioning of the hand was resulting in a poorer signal and dropped calls. Owners of the new iPhone started complaining immediately, as they were very upset that they pre-ordered online and waited in line for an expensive phone that was not working properly. Apple did not address the issue at first, but then came out with a statement that the iPhone 4′s antenna problem was a “software issue,” where the formula for displaying signal bars was just “totally wrong.” However Apple then updated their statement to conclude that the issues with the new iPhone 4 might be a hardware problem, so users should avoid touching the bottom left corner of the phone or buy a $29 case to correct the issue. Things then got a bit worst for Apple, as Consumer Reports just released their review of the new iPhone 4 and could not recommend it because of the antenna issues affecting the reception.
Verizon is hoping to capitalize on all of the negative publicity that the new iPhone 4 is receiving, as they have had an aggressive pre-sales publicity campaign which is designed to entice the younger, savvy, tech crowd. They even went so far as to place a full page ad in the New York Times on June 30 that took a subtle stab at Apple and the issues with the antenna on the iPhone 4. The new Droid X on Verizon starts shipping tomorrow, and people who pre-ordered it are very excited to get their hands on the newest Google Android powered smartphone. At first the Droid X will run on the Android 2.1 operating system, with an update to 2.2 (known as Froyo) and Flash 10.1 later this year. The timing for the Droid X is perfect, as many consumers are on the fence about getting an iPhone 4 because of the antenna issues. However the iPhone has been the dominant player in the smart phone arena for the last few years, and Verizon still has a ways to go to overcome the Apple iPhone.

I love my iphone4 I brought it on the release date and it has not failed me yet its the best phone on the market! My room-mate has a droid,my best friend have HTC HD and my brother has the HTC EVO and they all want to switch over to the Iphone4 after comparing the Photo’s and video taken by Iphone4, and the graphics and gameplay of the games! multi tasking and all of the great features on the Iphone4 that the phone has and didn’t list…..100 plus new features……… I got rid of my T-mobile account for good now and i’m sticking with the Iphone4 ,by far the best phone on the market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and you can take that to the bank. Its weird how the Iphone4 only has a 5 Mega Pixel camera but it take better and more true to color photo’s than the phones with 5, 8, and 12 mega pixel phones and I dare same camera’s as well.
Because mega-pixels doesn’t make lot of sense without mentioning the sensor quality its size =)) Probably, droid has the crappier sensor.
The iphone 4 is good now, but droid phones are on the rise and will continue to rise and become more innovative than the iphone due to multiple carriers. Plus all those features on the iphone that are innovative now will be caught up and passed within the coming months. Rumor specs of the droid pro (verizon) show 12MP camera (better than iphone 4), 1GB ram (better than iphone 4), front facing camera (matching iphone 4), and a 2ghz processor (better than anything on the market by far, including the iphone 4) to name a few of the improvements over the iphone 4.

even without counting the iPhone 4 design flaws, the Droid X was still gonna be the reasonable and better choice.
I have been feeling a little heat this early morning from several individuals not wanting to think that the Droid X inventory will be limited on launch day, as we reported previously. Well we’ve only snapped up 5 additional screenshots from 5 pretty main markets and I would state again of which inventory looks to end up being pretty minimal to me. Some associated with the main retailers have upwards of sixty devices, but some may simply have 5 units. Now possibly these quantities are over common for a Verizon introduction, but for a gadget this large, I speculate I just thought stores would could have tried to have already been overstocked.
Even as I love a bodily keyboard, after handling the Samsung Captivate for roughly 15 minutes, it’s onerous to head back. At this time I’m debating whether or not to go to Verizon for the Droid X, go to Sprint for the EVO, or stick with AT&T for the Captivate…decisions, decisions.
