Fans of the Rock Band game franchise now have confirmation of when the next release in the series will debut. MTV Games and game developer Harmonix made the announcement that Rock Band 3 is set to be released on October 26. The launch date was revealed with an announcement about the pre-order plans for Rock Band 3 at retailers Amazon, Gamestop and Wal-Mart. Gamers will be able to play Rock Band 3 on their Nintendo DS ($29.99), Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ($59.99 each). There are also special bonuses at each of the retailers with pre-order offers, with Amazon.com you get access to an in-game guitar and $10 off a future game purchase, Walmart gets you a $10 eGift card, and Gamestop gets you three free downloadable songs by Talking Heads, Deftones and New Order. Rock Band 3 has been hot target on fans’ radar since Harmonix announced that it would be available for the 2010 holiday shopping season.
The release of this game is a first for the Rock Band series, as it will be the first ever to feature keyboards. Rock Band 3 also brings with it some other equipment options that we already know about like the wireless Fender Mustang PRO guitar controller and improved crash, ride, and hi-hat cymbals. There are a total of 83 songs that come with the game, and there are roughly 1,500 more songs available online to be purchased. Players can also now save their favorite set lists with Rock Band 3, and share them with any of their friends at RockBand.com or in-game. They have also added song filtering to allow players to more easily find the tracks they want to play. Additionally you have the options to hide the songs you don’t want to play, and seek out new songs using a built-in song recommendation system based on personal preferences. With all these improvments to the Rock Band series, it is likely that online sales will go strong through the holiday shopping season.
