Ebay is the frequent home for celebrity memorabilia auctions, and there is currently a unique item up for auction right now on Ebay Motors which still has 0 bids. The original Sublime tour van went up for a 10 day auction on Ebay motors on July 11 for $19,000, but so far no one is interested in this one of a kind piece of music memorabilia. Sublime was a well known 3 piece band from Long Beach, California, that formed in 1988. They had a reggae fusion style that was not like anything else around the time, but their rise to popularity came more so after the lead singer and guitar player Bradley Nowell died due to a heroin overdose in 1996. The band split up right after his death, and then the songs of Sublime were very popular for the next couple years on the radio and MTV. The remaining members of the band, drummer Bud Gaugh and bass guitar player Eric Wilson then started The Long Beach Dub Allstars in 1997, but they disbanded in 2002. In 2009 Gaugh and Wilson formed a new Sublime with singer Rome Ramirez, but shortly after a judge banned them from calling themselves Sublime.
There are a number of reasons why the original 1986 Ford Econoline extended van that Bradley Nowell’s dad purchased for the band is special, including the fact that it was used as a constant theme in there songs. The interior of the van contains writing and stickers placed there by the band during their tour, plus some original dents and even some bullet holes. This original Sublime van is being solid as a collectors item with no warranty or guarantee on Ebay Motors, but the seller does note that it is currently running and registered in California. With a little over a day left in the auction on Ebay Motors, there is still a chance to bid on this piece of music history, if you have $19,000 to spare.
