There were no shortage of rumors on the Internet yesterday morning prior to the big Apple press event that took place in San Francisco at 10am PST, however only a few of the rumors turned out to be true. Some of the more popular Apple rumors were that there would be announcements about a new iPod Touch, Shuffle, and Nano, and all of these turned into reality yesterday when Steve Jobs confirmed that these products were coming next week, and that fans could start placing their pre-orders online today. Those who place pre-orders should expect their orders to ship next week. In addition to the new iPod’s, Apple also debuted a new and smaller version of Apple TV, which has expanded functionality so that users can now tap into Netflix. They also made it HD capable, and dropped the price of T.V. and movie rentals to 0.99ยข, except for new HD movies on day of release which will run $4.99. Apple TV can be pre-ordered now, but it is not set to ship for about four weeks.
Other Apple items up for pre-order include:
iPod Shuffle: This new model comes in five different colors and has a storage capacity of 2GB, with a price point of $49.
iPod Nano: There are now two new models for Apple fans who want an iPod Nano to choose from. Although many view this as a mini iPod Touch. There are seven different colors to choose from, with the 8GB model retailing for $149, and a larger 16GB model for $179.
iPod Touch: The new model comes with most of the features that the iPhone 4 has, like a front facing camera, FaceTime, Retina display, and HD video recording. There are three models to choose from, with the 8GB model retailing for $229, 32GB for $299, and 64GB for $399.
Apple TV: This sleek and small black unit is much cheaper than previous models, as Apple fans can pre-order it now for only $99. However it is unclear if the new Apple TV will be a success with consumers, as they already use Netflix or stream movies on their computer.
