Regular updates, fixing problems, and adding new features are all important parts of keeping an ecommerce solution competitive. 3dcart knows this. They’ve been on our list of best ecommerce solutions for some time now. We recently got word that they were upping their game with the release of 3dcart 4.0. With a very appropriate July 4 (see what they did there) launch date, they are in the initial run-up, giving our readers and anyone who subscribes to their e-mail updates a special inside look at what we can all expect from 3dcart 4.0. Let’s dive in!
Speed is the name of the game for ecommerce solutions. The fewer clicks there are from landing on a store site to getting to the checkout screen, the better your chances of making the sale will be. The new, improved 3dcart brings this to the forefront with two new features: Quick View and Quick Cart.
Quick View is exactly what it sounds like: it gives users a faster preview/full view of product details right from the category overview page. Instead of having to click through to the product page for a full-sized image and ordering information, Quick View allows your shoppers to see all of that in a quick pop-over box, complete with “Add to Cart” button.
The flip side to Quick View is Quick Cart. Quick Cart lets shoppers see what they’ve already added to their cart at any given time throughout their visit. This could theoretically help cut down on shopping cart abandonment. Too often users forget that they even have products in their cart, so they never seal the deal. This costs ecommerce solutions money and wastes shoppers’ time.
Another great feature set that many stores will want to take advantage of are group deals. Copying the Groupon model, these special offers won’t go into effect until a threshold number of shoppers have taken advantage of it. This encourages more site users to let their friends and families know about the deal to try to break that threshold. This puts your user base to work for you. 3dcart has also integrated a number of Facebook features into their ecommerce solution, allowing users to quickly and easily send product info over Facebook, as well as “liking” products and receiving regular updates and keeping in synch with your store.
This is all just the tip of the iceberg for 3dcart, expect much more information as we get closer to the July 4th launch date.
