Magento Community Edition Customer Reviews

From Admin

If you are launching a huge site with great products and want a reliable shopping cart that is used by popular companies then this is a good option. The enterprise edition prices could not be affordable for everyone but it depends on your project it could cost over $10,000 / year. But also you can go with open source route and learn the whole thing yourself with the support of their community.

Yes, magento is a heavy soft, it requires quite a good development environment, I had to install eAccelerator (after that my page load time while development went to 1 sec)

Also it is good not to turn of all the cache while development.

After couple of months of development with magento I finally started to do things quickly here! But for the first times it took half a day to do any feature which in the second time takes only 5 minutes to do again!

Anyway magento is a great software coz if you know it - it is highly customizable

In my opinion, Magento is the hardest of all popular open-source platforms out there and it requires good programming skills if you want to customize it. I’m not just talking about basic php knowledge here. It’s built for modularity, and it deliver it’s promises (it’s a great platform) – but if you don’t have the skills it’s a pain in the ass to customize.
