Although the design possibilities offered by ProStores are significantly limited, business owners looking to create a sufficiently attractive site and to manage their online business with helpful software will appreciate all that ProStores has to offer.

When I called their support today, the poor girl on the phone had no idea what I meant when I asked if my ProStores account could be hosted on a subdomain of an existing domain, i.e. store.awesome-company.com. (This is not a highly technical question in the hosting world). I had to explain everything to her about five times and the resolution was to file a ticket. No, the advanced support guy she had just conferred with was not available to talk to me. Like, duh.

And if you were wondering, oh wayward Internet traveler: it turns out you can't host your Prostores site on a subdomain. It's a pretty common, useful feature; this, too, is a deal-breaker, ladies. Ess that dee.

Prostores is an Ebay company. They offer much the same as Yahoo Stores. They're going to give most store owners the easy controls, themes, and massive amounts of products for a monthly fee. They also charge a transaction fee, but it does not amount to much.

It's important to remember with the readymade ecommerce stores that they offer their prices because they're the ones maintaining the database and protecting the store from hack attempts. Part of the cost of a regular store would be the regular maintenance, upkeep of the software, and ensure the hackers stay at bay. With a readymade solution, you pay the little extra each month to have someone else do this for you. That's why I think these solutions are so brilliant, especially for those just starting out in ecommerce.

I was with ProStores for about a year, but had a lot of troubles with their customer service, which made it tough as I needed a lot of help since I was new to ecommerce. Customer service is super important to me, and had to go somewhere else where they really went above and beyond to help me out with creating and running my online store.

I have used Prostores since the end of July of 2009. I came to Prostores from Auctive where I left feeling very frustrated and discouraged.

Although I have no html background, I was able to set up my store within a couple of weeks (that includes trying different versions of your store, to learn about features etc). Not only designing what it would look like, but transfering products over. The templates are clean and you can customize them to your liking, so you don't have to spend a lot of money on the design part when you first start out. The Paypal, credit card and shipping integrations worked like a charm and I started seeing first sales within the first week of opening my store with Prostores.

Any issues or questions I might have had or might have will be answered by customer service promptly. Usually within 24 hours. The forum is the best. There is a real sense of community. Everybody helps out, not only with advise on how to conquer issues, but also where to get and get good deals on promotion materials etc. I am on it every day.

Being someone who has very limited experience in Web site design. I wanted a site that I could easily use out of the box. After looking into half a dozen options. I found Pro stores was the one that matched my needs the best. I was able to learn the basics pretty easily. Although I did pay someone to add the Google Checkout option.

The Customer service is great. I have many questions, and they are very quick to answer. Both on the phone and via email. The online community, is not as active as some other sites. If you have a question about Technical issues its best to ask prostores directly.

I would like there to be a customer loyalty program, as well as the coupon/discount code could be more advanced. You are limited to what you can do, based on their pre defined terms. For example I cant make an offer of Spend x dollars and Get Y product for free.

The interface is a bit awkward to use because it's not intuitive, but once I got over that learning curve, I'm pretty pleased with this solution.

Customer service is GREAT with ProStores. It's clear that they take pride in their business because I never feel like I have to wait too long for support or like I'm up a creak without a paddle. While other shopping carts out there might have more bells and whistles than ProStores, I know that ProStores will catch up, but the other companies can never catch up to good customer service. That's why I stick with ProStores and always will!

I'm using ProStores by happenstance, because I recently acquired an online store that had ProStores as their solution. Honestly, I don't see myself changing solutions for awhile. Everything seems easy to use and organized well. I don't know what the experience was to set up the store or anything, but I do know that continued management of the store isn't a problem and my sales have increased since ProStore 10. I really like having site wide discounts and banners.
