Had Shopsite pro for a bit, but hated having to host it via a third party, so I moved solutions to a company who did everything in house, including hosting and customer service.

Purchased the licensed version about a year ago, and just got frustrated with it after a bit and decided to switch to another licensed solution that was more affordable and had more robust features.

Been using Shopsite manager via one of their hosting partners, and everything has been pretty good so far. I am going to look at other ecom solutions this year, but will most likely stay with Shopsite unless something out there really impresses me.

I've been setting up Shopsite clients with internet merchant accounts and online payment gateways (Authorize Net) for about 5 years. Shopsite has a great reputation for product & service and the cart easily itegrates with an AuthorizeNet payment gateway.

With Shopsite HTML skills are not required to build a website or to customize it. Perhaps the most important attribute of Shopsite is the information and help the application provides. It has screen references to answer any question specific to that page. The ShopSite developers listen to their users and are continuously improving the software with at least one major upgrade per year. The ShopSite user community is very active in an online forum. Forum users, including ShopSite personnel, who watch the postings give pertinent advices to new users. It’s great to know this group is just a few keystrokes away. One big and important limitation that ShopSite has is a limited number of design templates to choose from. The last version, ShopSite 8 adds a bevy of new features that existing ShopSite users will definitely clamor for. ShopSite 8 also does not loose anything of consequence from the previos one, which was already a very decent, feature-rich application that was relatively easy to use and set up.

We are a distributor of new and used store fixtures and supplies and have been using Shopsite for over 5 years for website. The product has greatly increased our online exposure in our industry. Shopsite also makes it easy to handle our online orders and customize how we show our products on the website. Our customers frequently ask us who does our website and we don’t hesitate in telling them – Shopsite.

I was pretty worried when I first started using ShopSite because it has a really outdated looking admin tool... REALLY outdated. The color pallet is awful. If you can get past the fact that the admin interface seems like it's from 1999, then you will find that it's really a great solution for ecommerce. Tons of great features, easy to use tools, global editing capabilities, HTML access for those who know code, and decently designed templates.

I could only afford ShopSite Manager and was very dissappointed to realize that Manager doesn't have some very basic things like gift certificates and coupons. Rather than upgrading, I just switched to a solution that cost the same as ShopSite Manager but had all the features of ShopSite Pro.

ShopSite Pros: I can put my add to cart button on any website so people can buy from my store anywhere, I can add multiple images & image sizes, I can customize the look and feel 100%, I can host unlimited products, take any currency, set shipping rules, integrate with DOBA and all with great customer service.
ShopSite Cons: Couldn't have optimized for search engines too much with anything but ShopSite Pro, had to find someone to host, but at least they have a lot of hosting partners to choose from.

This is my first e-commerce project and the first time I have ever used ShopSite. But I have been able to develop the entire site without any outside assistance; by only referring to your published documentation!

The ability for Affordable Preservation Company to utilize Shopsite to completely automate our sales process is invaluable. Prior to utilizing Shopsite we used PayPal and every order for Affordable Preservation Company had to be reformatted and manually sent to our vendors. The implementation of the CMS systems was straight forward and the use of the integrated shopping cart doubled our orders in our first month.

My main complaint is the fact that I have to work with an outside vendor to host ShopSite. This means that I have to rely on that hosting provider to help me with an customer service related to the cart and the people at ShopSite (the ones who are experts on their own cart) are off the hook.

ShopSite has some great features, but man the price is pretty high if I want them to host. For a licensed solution, they have the best features available for the best price (if you get ShopSite Pro... why even mess with ShopSite Manager??? Not worth the money, but ShopSite Pro is completely worth it). If you're looking for a hosted solution, then don't get ShopSite because it's just not worth the monthly cost. I can get the same set of features for much less per month from a different solution, but I'd never own the license... so again, as a customer with a licensed solution, ShopSite Pro is the best out there, but I'm scoring it a 3.5 only because it's not a great hosted option, which is what I wanted originally.
